Chen Fei-Hao’s “Archive-based Film” originate from historical archives rather than conventional scripts. Drawing upon newspapers, official documents, photographs, literature, oral histories, and local records, he interprets fictional narratives through historical archives. His works reconstruct moving-image narratives situated between history, memory, and imagination. Rather than illustrating historical events, Chen employs film, performance, photography, and sound to reinterpret archival fragments, examining how history is written, remembered, and continually reimagined.
